Kusama: Infinity – the life and art of yayoi kusama

Yayoi Kusama became a true household name in her late 80s, when her mirrored infinity rooms caught the iPhone lenses of instagramers everywhere, but her work has captured the imagination of art lovers since the early 50s.

This film, directed by Heather Lenz, explores Kusama’s life – as the daughter of a physically abusive mother and a womanizing father, as the 13-year-old girl who was sent to work in a military factory during WWII, as a woman experiencing mental illness, and – most importantly – as an artist.

Kusama: Infinity comes out on limited release in the US on Sept 7th and in the UK on Oct 4th.
