For her series ‘Homegrown,’ photographer Julie Blackmon doesn’t travel very far. She takes seemingly normal situations from your every day family and puts her own creative spin on the chaos that comes with it. Her photos are simple: kids in a pool or children playing in the yard but they’re full of hidden eggs of humor and what she calls “parenting contradictions.”

Julie says of her work, “As an artist and as a mother, I believe life’s most poignant moments come from the ability to fuse fantasy and reality:  to see the mythic amidst the chaos.” You can see more photos here.
