God View might just be one of the most exceptionally captivating short films you’ll experience this year, so far. This week, at very least!
Before pressing play though, you should know that this is a tragic story of mental illness and it’s not for the faint hearted.
Inspired by a news story that happened at the time, the film’s lead character walks East London’s Hackney neighborhood, being filmed entirely from above, courtesy of a specially-made body rig. (Hat tip to the heavy post-production that went into editing it out!)
The change in perspective isn’t gimmicky, it’s an impactful way to tell a powerful story about mental health and adds a whole new dimension to the lead character’s point of view. Check out Billy Lumby’s gripping, visually impressive short above.
